Living Alone
Brione Sopra Minusio, Switzerland
After leaving my partner, I spent the next seven months in a rental which was lovingly filled with the owner's Spiritual energy. Here I learned how easy it was to live alone, without all the materialistic things I once had and within my limited finances.
On the final day of my lease, I boarded a plane bound for Switzerland for an extended stay. I lived in a quaint two hundred year old building, with the woods on one side of me, grape vineyards on the other and that incredible view of the majestic mountains spilling into Lake Maggiore.
I continued on my journey of living alone, but it was here where I learned how to not be lonely. I came to the realization that loneliness was only something I had created in my mind. Instead of allowing it to take hold and make me miserable, I chose nature to fill the void. The Eurasian jays and crows that spoke to me daily, the lizards that scurried away as soon as I came near, the flowers bursting open into the warmth of the sunshine being enjoyed by the butterflies and bees, two silly cats that were always surprised to see me in their playground and even the mosquitoes, all became my friends.
I am one with nature and no longer lonely.
This is my truth,
Carol
